Job Summary
The Laser / Plasma / Turret Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for
laser cutting, plasma cutting, and turret punch press machines. This role converts engineering drawings and CAD
files into efficient machine programs, ensuring accurate part production, optimal material usage, and minimal
machine downtime. The programmer works closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure parts
meet specifications and production goals.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain CNC programs for laser, plasma, and turret punch machines.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to create machine-ready programs.
• Utilize nesting software to maximize material usage and reduce scrap.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and machine settings for various materials and thicknesses.
• Optimize programs to improve machine efficiency, cycle time, and part quality.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve manufacturability issues.
• Maintain program documentation, revision control, and file organization.
• Troubleshoot programming and machine-related issues during production.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company operating procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in fabrication processes

Required Skills & Qualifications
• Experience programming CNC laser, plasma, or turret punch machines.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and nesting software.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
• Knowledge of tooling, cutting parameters, and material characteristics.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with production teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with machines such as Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic, or similar equipment.
• Familiarity with nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, TruTops, RADAN, or similar).
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems for job tracking.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
• Technical certification or associate degree in manufacturing, machining, or engineering technology.
 Working Conditions
• Manufacturing / fabrication shop environment.
• Frequent interaction with production floor personnel.
May require occasional shop floor troubleshooting and machine setup support.
