Junior Systems Administrator

Job Purpose:

The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for assisting in the management and optimization of our essential business systems. Reporting to the Information Technology Director, the Junior Systems Administrator will work in tandem with the Senior Systems Administrator to ensure the seamless operation of key areas, including operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, and email.

Job Requirements:

•A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
•Possession of a foundational understanding of Ethernet networks and proficiency in managing current Microsoft operating systems.
•Demonstrable expertise or substantial exposure to the utilization and management of SalesForce.com.
•Comprehensive grasp of internet protocols, architecture, and operations.
•Practical experience with or knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies and their implementation.
•Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft’s MCSA, or Cisco’s CCNA would be advantageous.
•Proficiency in system and network configuration, understanding of various operating systems (like Windows, Linux), and common software applications.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.
•Strong communication skills, particularly when interacting with non-technical team members.
•Prior experience in a technical support role or similar position is beneficial but not essential.

 

Job duties:

•Assisting in the development and maintenance of our ERP system.
•Addressing and routing Help Desk requests, providing technical support to users at the entry level, and ensuring appropriate ticket assignment.
•Aiding in the support of LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems under the mentorship of the Senior Network Engineer.
•Ensuring system design promotes compatibility and efficient operation across all components.
•Assisting in maintaining network and system security.
•Troubleshooting user-reported issues, analyzing, and isolating problems with the guidance of the Senior Systems Engineer.
•Monitoring system performance to proactively identify potential issues and ensure smooth and secure operations.
•Providing user support, including answering queries, offering technical assistance, and training staff on new software and hardware.
•Creating and maintaining technical documentation, such as hardware and software inventories, and system use and troubleshooting protocols.
•Assisting in the implementation and testing of new technology, including user account setup, backup and recovery processes, and software and hardware testing.
•Performing other duties as assigned.
